About Us

For over 50 years, Newberry Academy has been a college preparatory school of academic excellence serving families in Newberry, Prosperity, Chapin, Irmo, and surrounding areas. We offer a challenging 2K-12 curriculum in a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment with an emphasis on strong moral character and respect. We are proud to offer an educational environment that values the faith and traditions of the Judeo-Christian experience and offer monthly non-denominational Chapel for our students. 

Newberry Academy focuses on an individualized approach to education, a strong sense of community, and multiple opportunities for students to develop their talents, passions, and skills in a variety of areas; including sports, leadership and the arts.

History

In the summer of 1966, a group of interested parents from Newberry made plans for the establishment of an independent school to serve Newberry County. Through the efforts and contributions of these parents and many others, the school opened in the fall of 1966. Since its inception, Newberry Academy has grown to be one of the best educational institutions in the area. The school is housed on a fourteen acre tract of land with six buildings in which to educate its students.

Newberry Academy is a member of and is accredited by the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA). SCISA offers numerous benefits to our students, parents, staff members, and board members in a variety of capacities including academic and athletic competitions.
