altIn the summer 1966, a group of interested parents from Newberry Academy made plans for the establishment of an independent school to serve Newberry Academy. Through the efforts and contributions of these parents and the many others, the school opened in the fall of 1966. Newberry Academy first opened its doors with 60 First through Eighth graders in the old West End School building. A year later, one five-year-old class was added to begin the school's Kindergarten and Preschool program.

With the support of both the community and the school's families, Newberry Academy completed construction on their new facility and moved to its present campus location in 1971. The Academy continued to experience successful growth over the next several years, adding a new Kindergarten building in 1972 and a spacious gym and classroom building in the early 1980's. In 1994, a new gym was built on campus and the existing gym was remodeled into a classroom, laboratory and cafeteria space.

Since its inception, Newberry Academy has grown to be one of the best educational institutions in the area. The school is housed on a fourteen acre tract of land with six buildings in which to educate its students. Newberry Academy proudly graduated its first class of Seniors in May 1988. Today, Newberry Academy continues to grow and expand, with approximately 200 students in grades 3K through 12.
